If you are seeking to learn more about economic development or pursuing the Certified Economic Developer credential, I encourage you to come join me and my friends at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s School of Government for the annual Basic Economic Development Course to be held in Chapel Hill from July 28-31, 2025. I’ll be leading the training on Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Strategies, but you will also learn all the basics in an excellent Economic Development 101-level training.
As I was preparing for the course, I was digging into older files and realized that I first started teaching this course back in 2011—back in the day when many folks still couldn’t spell entrepreneurship.😊 We’ve seen momentous and welcome changes since then, and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) even has a new credential focused solely on entrepreneurship: the Entrepreneurship Development Professional. Thanks to Jonathan Morgan and his team at UNC for their excellent work in managing this course and for serving as thought leaders in the field!
